Social Media Student Influencer Program

Use your voice to spread the word about Palm Beach State College!

Join PBSC's Social Media Student Influencer Program and earn a $300 scholarship for the following semester. Applications for the Summer 2025 term are due April 14, 2025.

Goals & Objectives

The Office of Communications and Public Affairs (OCPA) aims to enhance social media engagement on Palm Beach State College’s (PBSC) platforms, with a particular focus on Instagram. PBSC students (influencers) will share their college experiences through creative content, offering unique perspectives for fellow students, prospective students, parents, and the broader community. Our goal is to authentically showcase student life through these genuine stories.

This is a volunteer opportunity, but students will receive exclusive PBSC swag and a scholarship for taking the time to do this, among other benefits.

 

Ideal Student Influencers

  • You are #PantherProud to be a PBSC student.
  • You are creative and tech savvy.
  • You are comfortable in front of or behind the camera or a combination of both.
  • You are proficient in keeping up with current pop culture trends such as identifying trending sounds, memes and/or editing Instagram Reels. 
  • Student has minimum 1,000 follower account on his/her social media accounts.


Expectations

  • Provide regular content for PBSC’s main social media account. Student will deliver a minimum of either: 
    • Three Reels a month (short form vertical video); or
    • Two Reels and two “Student Takeover” for Instagram Stories a month; or
    • Additional idea(s) welcome with approval from Digital Media Manager.
  • Meet every other week with the Digital Media Manager to plan content ideas, discuss deadlines, pitch ideas, learn more about PBSC’s OCPA and social media marketing.

 

Perks

 

  • Receive a $300 scholarship upon successful completion each semester. Scholarship must be used for the semester after acting as Student Social Media Influencer. For example, if you are active in the fall, your scholarship would be used for spring registration.
  • Resume building experience.
  • Have links to published work to build your portfolio.
  • Receive PBSC swag to use in your social media content.
  • Mentorship opportunities with marketing and communication professionals.
  • Upon successful completion of the program, you may receive letters of recommendations.

  • Period is for the 2025-2026 academic year. Students must commit to serve a one-semester term, with the option to renew.
  • Be currently enrolled in a certificate or degree program at PBSC.
  • Allow PBSC to use your photo/image/likeness for the purposes of promoting the college. A model release will need to be completed for our records.
  • Acknowledge that any content created by the Student Social Media Influencer for the purposes of promoting PBSC, including videos, photos, or other media, will be considered the intellectual property of PBSC. 
  • Agree that PBSC retains sole creative control and the perpetual, irrevocable right to use, modify, distribute, and display this content without further compensation or approval. 
  • Student Social Media Influencer will create content for PBSC social media by using his/her smartphone.
  • Allow PBSC to follow your personal accounts and repost any content associated with PBSC.
  • Post pre-approved, PBSC-related content on your personal social media accounts a minimum of once a month.
  • Tag personal PBSC-related posts with @pbstatecollege and #MyPBSC. 
  • Promote and comment on PBSC events and activities on social media. 
  • Adhere to all policies described in the PBSC Student Code of Conduct. 
  • Review and adhere to PBSC’s official Social Media Guidelines, which include refraining from posting obscene, offensive or misleading content and ensuring all public content reflects positively on PBSC.

 

  • Check email and/or Microsoft Teams messages regularly. Respond promptly, within 24 hours. 
  • Notify the Digital Media Manager by email if you cannot meet for your scheduled meeting sessions. Excessive absences are to be avoided. The student’s start date may vary; however, student should not allow for four (4) missed absences without prior notice.     
  • Notify the Digital Media Manager in advance if you cannot meet your work deadline to collaborate on a solution.  
  • Lack of communication resulting in missing deadlines or scheduled meetings.
  • Not meeting project deadlines, as established.
  • Engaging in behavior that is inconsistent with PBSC’s values or social media guidelines, including unlawful activities, hate speech, discrimination, harassment, or any inappropriate content that may damage the College’s reputation.
  • Violation of any laws.
  • This is a volunteer opportunity, not an internship or federal work-study program. 
  • Accepting the PBSC Social Media Influencer Program in no way guarantees employment with the College at the end of the program. 
  • PBSC reserves the right to terminate this program at any time without notice.
  • PBSC perks and incentives can change at any time.
  • PBSC is not responsible for any liability, loss, damage, or claims arising out of or related to the Student Social Media Influencer’s activity and further agrees to indemnify and hold the College harmless from any claims or disputes related to the created content.
