Conscious Discipline Conference

Palm Beach County Convention Center, April 2016

By Michelle Immekus

On April 28th and 29th members of the IEECE and Conscious Discipline pilot community partners attended the Conscious Discipline - Developing Self-Regulation and Impulse Control in an Unregulated World Conference.

This hands on training equipped the teachers with strategies to take back to their classrooms.

One key strategy focused on the importance of a school family. When children feel safe, included, valued, and supported, their social emotional growth and development soars.

By creating structures within centers, such as a friends and family picture board, a ritual to welcome back absent students, and jobs for all children in the class, children will feel as though they are supported, productive members of their school family.

For more information about trainings that support children’s social emotional growth and development, please contact Darcy Russo at (561) 868-3663 or russod@palmbeachstate.edu.
