Program Learning Outcome #1

Practice shop safety, personal safety, equipment safety and proper usage of oxy-fuel equipment.

Program Learning Outcome #2

Demonstrate basic setup tasks and operations for air carbon arc, shielded metal src (stick), gas metal arc (MIG), gas tungsten arc (TIG), plasma arc, oxy fuel welding/cutting, track burning operations and basic cutting machines.

Program Learning Outcome #3

Interpret basic blueprints/welding symbols and effectively demonstrate use of measuring equipment and basic math, fractions and decimals and metric measurement.

Program Learning Outcome #4

Demonstrate use of basic fixtures and welding fabrication tools.

Program Learning Outcome #5

Apply American Welding Society (AWS) procedures for testing and code work pertaining to American Petroleum Institute (API) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

Program Learning Outcome #6

Use proper procedures for welding dissimilar metals, ferrous and non-ferrous metals and the use of proper polarity.

Program Learning Outcome #7

Recognize heat affected zones, distortion control procedures and application/control of heat and the effect on fabricated assemblies.

Demonstrate basic business and employability skills.

Program Learning Outcome #9

Demonstrate adequate proficiency in Math, Language and Reading as indicated by minimum passing scores on the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) exam.
