Averil C. Ipri Memorial Scholarship
Born in a poor section of Manchester, England, Averil C. Ipri graduated from Cambridge University with both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees, only made possible by obtaining a full scholarship. Averil went on to teach math and physics at an all-girls high school in Cambridge, England, later teaching at the All Girls Sacred Heart School in Princeton, New Jersey.
Because Averil was so passionate about understanding the world through math and physics, she wanted to generate that same passion in her students, sparking their interest in physics and its underlying foundation in mathematics.
Palm Beach State’s Averil C. Ipri Memorial Scholarship is intended for female students with a minimum 2.5 GPA who express an interest in physics and mathematics. This interest should be the foundation for the technical program in which they are enrolled and clearly stated in the written section of their scholarship application. Awards will be based on financial need and academic achievement.
