Janet DeVries Naughton is a Librarian and History Professor at Palm Beach State College. Previously she served as archivist/historian for the Boynton Beach City Library and the Delray Beach Historical Society. She holds master’s degrees in Library and Information Studies and American History and a Community College Leadership and Teaching graduate certificate. She is the past president of the Boynton Beach Historical Society and an award-winning author of several Florida history publications.
Professor Naughton teaches United States History courses as well as Information Literacy and Research Methods classes (both virtual and face-to-face) on the Lake Worth Campus. She promotes historic scholarship by performing historical research for various projects including history publications, programs, films, and plays, volunteering as a tour guide in a historic Florida cemetery, and lecturing on historical topics throughout Florida. Her interests include library outreach and advocacy, information literacy, assessment, academic integrity, gamification, genetic genealogy, Florida history, Palm Beach County history, Black history, and women's history.
