Belle Glade Pilots New Art Course
By Karen Darter
The Arts Integration in the Preschool Classroom course (HEO0279) was recently offered at Palm Beach State College’s Belle Glade campus. This course provided early learning practitioners an opportunity to learn new strategies to incorporate performance art into their daily schedules.
There were moments of storytelling, coffee can theatre, puppets, imaginary journey, rhythm instruments, steady beat, games, and performance.
The practitioners were filled with excitement each Monday night as they entered the classroom ready to engage in another adventure.
Each training session began with time to reflect and share how practitioners incorporated the amazing training techniques and strategies into their classroom practice.
This hands-on training broadened their understanding of how important the arts are to the classroom and how easy it is to take a lesson you already use and make it come to life with performance art. These practitioners are looking forward to another training using these techniques.
The course was sponsored in partnership with the Florida Alliance for Arts Education and made possible through a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts by the Department of State Division of Cultural Affairs.
