SEEK Scholarship Recipient Earns AS Degree with Help from IEECE’s Tutoring Center
My name is Jeannette Galera, and I earned my associate degree in early childhood education at Palm Beach State College in May 2016 with the help of the SEEK Scholarship program.
At one point, I was not passing one of my required courses, which was going to hold me back from graduation. I learned the Institute of Excellence in Early Care and Education has a tutoring program, so I decided to reach out to them and request support.
I was then assigned a tutor for my English class. I never felt so comfortable during my tutoring. My tutor took time to read my essays, and, together, we explored different ways to put my thoughts into my essays.
My tutor’s follow-up support was the best. We would call or email each other throughout the week. I am happy to note I passed my course.

Next, I was walking across the graduation stage to receive my associate’s degree. Throughout it all, I found the courage to continue my level of education.
Now, I am pursing my bachelor’s degree in early childcare education at Florida Atlantic University with the continued support of the SEEK scholarship.
