SEEK Scholarship Recipients: For These Sisters, Education Matters
Karla Thompson Earns Her Degree
My love and passion for children is where I find comfort, and I hope to instill knowledge and positive values into the students I serve. Implementing my values and living this way has led me to a successful and satisfying career.
I’ve worked in many capacities, from day care to public and private schools, and as
a substitute teacher. I credit a lot of my success to my sister, Sabrina Nesbitt,
who has encouraged me, pushed me, sometimes carried me, and always kept me
motivated. She encouraged me to want greater
accomplishments.
As a result, in December 2016 I graduated with my AS Degree in Early Childhood Education from Palm Beach State College.

Now, I would like to be that same leader for her. I’m challenging my sister to complete her degree in Early Childhood Education.
My sister is a great teacher, that’s who she is. As she once carried me, it’s now my time to carry her. My prayer is for us to always reach for greatness.
So, spread your wings and fly, sister!
Sabrina Nesbitt Is Reaching Her Goal
I have been an Early Childcare Educator for nearly 30 years. I have always loved working with children and knew from a very young age that I wanted early childhood education to be my profession.
My experience sparked from being a lead instructor, to becoming a center director in a private daycare, to working in my current position as an Early Childhood Professional for the Palm Beach County School District.
My sister, Karla Thompson, motivated me further to work on my AS degree in Early Childhood Education. Watching my sister complete her degree in Early Childhood gave me the inspiration to pursue a higher level of qualification.
I enjoy continuous lifelong learning, keeping my mind active and open. I’m proud to be a contributor to my society, in the career that I truly love.
