Center for Excellence in Engineering Technology

Are you fascinated by how things work? Palm Beach State College’s Center for Excellence in Engineering Technology has created streamlined pathways to technical careers in a wide range of industries.

The Center is funded by the Florida Job Growth Grant of the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity with the goal of meeting the demand for skilled technicians in South Florida by providing students with expanded learning and job networking opportunities.

Take Charge of Your Future - Choose Your Path

Palm Beach State’s degree and certificate programs in Engineering Technology prepare students for well-paid careers in many industries, including manufacturing, aerospace and energy. Guided by top professors, students gain the knowledge and hands-on experience—in campus labs and through internships—that are in high demand locally and worldwide.

Associate in Science Degrees

Career-oriented A.S. degree programs prepare students for immediate entry into the workforce and provide the academic foundation needed to enroll in Palm Beach State College's bachelor's degree programs. Transfer to certain bachelor's degree programs at other colleges and universities is possible as well. A.S. degrees typically take two years to complete on a full-time basis or three years part time.

College Credit Certificates

College Credit Certificate programs focus on high-demand technical skills. CCC credits will count toward the related A.S. degree, but taken independently, CCCs work well when a student:

  • Already has a degree or needs new skills for career advancement.
  • Wants a faster route to employment. CCCs take eight to 16 months.

Engineering Technology

Associate in Science Degree
with four concentration areas

60 Credits | Full-time: 2 years | Part-time: 3 years

Get ready to enter industries that use the latest technologies to design, test and manufacture products and equipment of all kinds.

  • Gain practical experience in well-equipped labs.
  • Build math & science skills doing real-world projects.
  • Get access to internships and job opportunities.

Program graduates launch careers as engineering technicians or technologists who apply basic engineering principles and technical skills to operate high-tech equipment and assist engineers in product research and development, fabrication, quality control and more.

The Engineering Technology A.S. degree offers four concentration areas, enabling students to focus on specific career paths and industries that match their interests.

Explore the Concentration Areas:

The Engineering Technology labs on the Lake Worth and Palm Beach Gardens campuses feature Lucas-Nuelle training systems that build high-demand skills in factory automation technologies.

This concentration prepares students to work for manufacturers as a technician or engineering technologist in automation, robotics, mechatronics, or electrical/mechanical engineering.
