Gaps in Your Work History
-
You can also include unpaid experience in
your work history to fill in a gap created by job hunting.
-
If you had any training during this
period (even a little bit) include that in your work history to help fill in
the gap.
-
You can also list year rather than
month and year in your work history. This often works for small gaps in your
work history.
-
If you have been attending college and
not working, do not be concerned about gaps.
-
Were you self-employed during any of
the time? Doing temporary work? Helping out a neighbor with minor chores?
Pet sitting?
-
If there are large gaps in your work
history when you were not in training, volunteering, or anything related,
plan to cover this in your cover letter. You may want to discuss this with a
Career Advisor.
- Use a functional resume format to highlight your skills and knowledge.
