Steps to Creating Your Resume

Step 4: Outline your Education and Training
(Chronological Resume)

Education should directly follow your summary if you are a new graduate or currently enrolled in a program of study. Do not include your high school if you graduated more than two years ago or have completed a semester of college.
  • List your education and training in chronological order starting with the most recent.
  • Write out the complete name of the school or college attended.

Palm Beach State College - not PBSC

  • If you want something to stand out, such as a high GPA or college major, make it bold.
  • Write the official title of the degree or certificate you are pursuing, not "Associates degree" or a shortened title of a certificate program.
What to include:

- Name of school and location
- Dates of attendance or date of graduation
- Degree or certificate received or anticipated (if less than 6 months)
- Major or program of study
- Related coursework (only if currently enrolled and it supports your job objective)
- Extracurricular activities or special projects
- GPA, only if over 3.0
